Andrew and Tristan Tate have a dedicated base of supporters fighting for them, with protesters taking to the streets last Thursday outside the Miami jail where the brothers are detained, demanding their release. In addition to chanting, hundreds of supporters performed group push-ups to assert Tate's innocence, drawing the attention of passersby who recorded numerous photos and video clips.

Many are likely already familiar with Andrew Tate. A few years ago in Thailand, there was news of a young man, a second-year armed forces prep school class president and son of a general, who asked his famous net idol girlfriend to meet for a reconciliation. Instead, he shot her to death with a firearm before taking his own life. This case sparked a societal debate on how an 18-year-old boy could access a real gun and use it to murder his girlfriend.

It was later discovered that the young man had physically assaulted his girlfriend multiple times, which was the reason she asked for a breakup. The young man held fiercely misogynistic attitudes, idolized Andrew Tate, and had previously posted Instagram stories arguing with others using concepts influenced by Andrew Tate. Who is Andrew Tate?
Andrew Tate is an influencer who propagates hyper-masculinity, presenting an image of a highly successful man living a luxurious lifestyle, styling himself as "Top G." His target audience consists of teenagers and young men who feel neglected by modern society.
https://i.guim.co.uk/img/media/5916799091dc781e673bc0389b06ed7c203ce13a/0_0_2419_1451/master/2419.jpg?width=1300&dpr=1&s=none&crop=none
His rise to fame began as a professional kickboxer, where he won world championships under the ISKA (International Sport Karate Association). However, the turning point that brought him mainstream notoriety was his appearance on the UK reality show Big Brother in 2016. He was removed from the show after a leaked video surfaced showing him hitting a woman with a belt (which he and the woman in the video later claimed was entirely consensual).
Afterward, he founded "Hustler's University" (now rebranded as The Real World), an online platform claiming to teach methods for making money, investing, and building wealth. Furthermore, he runs webcam and casino-related businesses in Romania.
Some promotional material for "Hustler's University". Many are concerned that it is more of a scam business rather than a way to escape the 9-to-5 cycle and make massive amounts of money as advertised.

He profits off his highly masculine image, preying on young boys and men who desperately want to achieve success like him. His content spread rapidly through an affiliate marketing system, where group members edited and reposted his videos on platforms like TikTok to generate views and revenue shares.
While countless boys and young men look up to him as an inspiration, the general public, particularly parents and teachers, are deeply concerned about the attitudes of the boys who believe him. This is because Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan advocate for reducing women to mere sexual objects and using violence to control them, firmly believing that what mainstream society views as Toxic Masculinity is actually true masculinity in accordance with the laws of nature.

Both brothers have been involved in numerous cases of sexual violence against women and children, and neither shows any sign of remorse. He had previously bragged in several videos and podcasts (the originals of which have since been deleted) that he chose to move from the UK to Romania because he believed their laws and justice system had loopholes regarding sexual assault and rape, allowing him to do as he pleased and evade consequences much more easily.
This confidence ironically backfired later on. Ultimately, their arrogant lifestyle in Romania put them on the authorities' radar, leading the Romanian Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT) to arrest him and his brother. This resulted in both facing severe international investigations, including charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group to sexually exploit women.

The legal proceedings against Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan began with their arrest in Romania in late 2022 and have dragged on to the present. The case involves the justice systems of multiple countries. The timeline of events can be summarized as follows:
December 2022
Andrew and Tristan were arrested in Romania, along with two Romanian women, on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group to sexually exploit women.
March to August 2023
Romanian courts changed their custody measures from jail to house arrest, later easing it to judicial control, which allowed them to leave their house but restricted them from leaving the area.
June 2023
Romanian prosecutors officially indicted all four individuals on charges of human trafficking, rape, and forming an organized crime group. All defendants denied the charges.
March to July 2024
UK authorities issued arrest warrants for the Tate brothers concerning past sexual assault cases, alongside a civil case regarding tax evasion. Later, a Romanian court granted them permission to travel within the European Union.
August 2024
Romanian police raided Andrew's residence again, expanding investigations into charges related to the trafficking of minors, having sexual relations with a minor, and money laundering. As a result, the court placed him under house arrest once more.
February to May 2025
Travel bans preventing them from leaving Romania were lifted, allowing them to travel to America. Meanwhile, in the UK, prosecutors charged the Tate brothers with 21 offenses, which included human trafficking and physical assault.
July 2026
The Tate brothers were arrested by the US Marshals in Miami, Florida, based on a sealed arrest warrant from UK authorities.
August 2026 (Current News)
While Andrew and Tristan were held at a federal detention center in Miami awaiting trial and bail hearings, a group of supporters gathered outside the jail, holding signs, chanting for their release, and doing push-ups to show their support and assert the brothers' innocence.
Currently, the Tate brothers' legal cases remain in the judicial process, and they are facing extradition to the UK for further prosecution.

The intriguing point regarding the news of supporters gathering outside the jail demanding the release of Andrew and Tristan Tate is this: despite the presence of glaring evidence and witnesses making it quite clear that the two have committed actual crimes (leaving only the question of exactly how many charges and the severity of their guilt), they still maintain a fiercely loyal support base. This demonstrates his immense influence over this demographic of men, and highlights that misogyny remains a deeply rooted problem even in developed countries like America or those in the European Union.
With his "Top G" image, being successful, wealthy, driving sports cars, possessing a muscular physique, and being surrounded by women, Andrew Tate became the quintessential role model for men who glorify the male sex while disparaging women. It has led many to view this as a "Homoerotic Heterosexual" relationship (holding deep affection for other men, but having sex with the opposite gender).
https://www.spieltimes.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Andrew-Tate.jpg
Even though almost every social media platform (YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram) banned him in 2022 for violating hate speech policies (though his X (Twitter) account was later unbanned and restored), it has failed to halt the obsession that these men harbor for him. Furthermore, men influenced by him, particularly the youth, have applied these misogynistic attitudes toward women around them in real life. This has turned into a widespread social issue, one whose impact is arguably even more devastating than the direct rapes or human trafficking he inflicted upon victims face-to-face.
There is still a vast number of teenage boys who idolize Andrew Tate. Although there are debates in the original threads about whether this is just "rage bait" (creating posts or comments specifically designed to infuriate onlookers into angrily replying), it is undeniable that a substantial number of men genuinely hold these beliefs. At the very least, it is true for the group of men willing to stand in the scorching heat to protest or do push-ups outside the jail, as seen in the news.
And even if the Tate brothers are locked behind bars, stopping their spread of misogynistic ideas, there are still many influencers and groups actively promoting misogynistic mindsets (the Manosphere, an online network focused on male supremacy). Examples include Roosh V, Sneako, or conservative thinkers and authors like Jordan Peterson. Most recently, a major news story broke out regarding the exposure and arrest of the "Online Rape Academy" network this past July 2026. (Details of the "Rape Academy" case will be covered in a section following this one.)
This is because the dissemination of beliefs that are blatantly dangerous to women, such as teaching fellow men that women are inferior, hold a lower status, and that men can abuse women without feeling guilty because it is a natural thing, continues. Or exchanging information on how to exploit women, ranging from minor matters to tactics for tricking women into falling in love or consenting to sex. This even extends to discussing methods on how to drug women discreetly without getting caught, or how to gaslight women post-rape so they blame themselves instead of getting angry at the male perpetrator, making them fail to realize they were raped or deciding not to report it to the authorities.
Distributing such false beliefs is still not legally considered a crime as long as an actual offense has not taken place.
Consequently, those who have beloved women in their lives, especially those with young daughters or nieces who are vulnerable to being lured and exploited by such men, are forced into a position of high alert. We can never truly know what underlying attitudes a conventionally attractive man holds toward women. (The perpetrators in most sexual harassment or rape cases are people the victims already know and trust. This means the majority are not masked attackers or suspicious strangers, but ordinary, everyday men whose appearance, demeanor, and status are credible enough that victims feel safe getting close to them or being alone with them.)
Andrew Tate and Bonnie Blue (an OnlyFans model famous for recording a video setting a record by having consecutive group sex with 100 men at once) taking a photo using the cover of Sabrina Carpenter's album "Man’s Best Friend" as a reference. (Sabrina's original cover was itself criticized upon release as inappropriate because, as a singer viewed as a role model by many teenage girls, she should not take photos that demeaningly equate herself to a man's dog, based on the implications of the album title.)

If society and parents recognized the importance of raising and instilling in their sons to respect others equally regardless of gender, these boys would grow up capable of finding their footing and adapting to society without having to exploit women. They would possess enough immunity to avoid being duped by the groups of men who profit off misogynistic values.
However, hope in this regard is incredibly bleak.
This is because the majority of people still adhere to parenting values that push all burdens onto their daughters while turning a blind eye to their sons, letting them do whatever they please under the mindset that "they can't get pregnant, so there's no harm done." Whenever their sons cause trouble, they casually brush it off with phrases like "Boys will be boys" and let it slide without punishment. It is only when the consequences erupt, when their sons assault or rape someone and face legal action, that they cry and insist, "My son is a good person," even in cases with glaring evidence showing that they are the perpetrators.
News of UK teachers expressing concern over the influence of misogynistic media on students. In the news, Andrew Tate's name is among the first mentioned.
The author can only pray that all women, as well as men who have beloved women in their lives (and the men themselves), remain safe from being harmed and exploited by men with these abhorrent mindsets.
To conclude, here is a passage from the book The Politics of Reality: Essays in Feminist Theory (1983) by Marilyn Frye:
"To say that straight men are heterosexual is only to say that they engage in sex (fucking exclusively with the other sex, i.e., women).
All or almost all of that which pertains to love, most straight men reserve exclusively for other men. The people whom they admire, respect, adore, revere, honor, whom they imitate, idolize, and form profound attachments to, whom they are willing to teach and from whom they are willing to learn, and whose respect, admiration, recognition, honor, reverence and love they desire… those are, overwhelmingly, other men.
In their relations with women, what passes for respect is kindness, generosity or paternalism; what passes for honor is removal to the pedestal.
From women they want devotion, service and sex.
Heterosexual male culture is homoerotic; it is man-loving."
