The advantage is, the content on the Global server will be updated in sync with the Chinese server quicker, eliminating the problem of unintentional spoilers. However, the major disadvantage is that people who don't have much time will not be able to keep up and will have to skip the story to farm resources (I'm one of them - I've skipped Anecdotes for several patches in a row thinking, "I'll read them later when I have time," but that 'time' has never come).
